Amara Sunnarborg

AKids Director | Arrowhead Church, Grainger

Amara grew up in Southwest Florida and studied Chemistry at Wheaton College in Illinois. She loved her Bible and Theology classes, as well as her ministry classes, which she chose for her electives.

Amara has been involved in kids' ministry since 2007, the first year she was old enough to volunteer. She loves guiding kids in worship and helping them learn more about God. She spent several summers serving at HoneyRock, a camp in northern Wisconsin, where she built relationships centered around Jesus and discipleship. Dedicated to living for the kingdom in all that she does, Amara currently serves by teaching high school math.

Amara began attending Arrowhead Morristown in 2022 and was drawn to the opportunities for spiritual growth through Connect and Believe Groups and serving in Akids. She joined the Grainger congregation for its proximity to her home and has enjoyed serving the kids since the first preview services. She loves working alongside a team of volunteers committed to discipling the next generation.

At Arrowhead, Amara schedules volunteers for Akids, prepares lesson materials, and trains new volunteers. She is passionate about providing a welcoming, safe, and fun environment for the kids each week.

Amara's vision for her ministry is for all kids to grow in their understanding of God's love and to share that love with others. She is committed to ensuring that each child feels they belong and enjoys learning every week.

Outside of Arrowhead, Amara enjoys reading, embroidery, hiking, kayaking, and traveling to visit friends around the country. She hopes to visit friends around the world in the coming years. She also enjoys playing colorful games like ladder ball, Qwirkle, and Skyjo.

A fun fact about Amara is that she is a second-degree black belt in taekwondo. Her favorite indoor fitness activity is dance workouts. She loves Thai food and saw the live-action Aladdin movie in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
